Hiking Time: 6-7 hours
Today's trek leads you through the moorland zone, where the landscape transforms into a world of giant lobelias and otherworldly vegetation. You'll cross the expansive Shira Plateau, one of the highest volcanic calderas in the world, with breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro's glaciers rising in the distance. The terrain opens up dramatically, offering your first sweeping vistas of the mountain's icy crown.

A challenging but essential day for acclimatization takes you up to the towering Lava Tower, a dramatic black rock formation standing sentinel over the alpine desert. Here, you'll gain valuable altitude before descending into the lush Barranco Valley—a classic "climb high, sleep low" strategy. Barranco Camp awaits below, nestled amid giant groundsels with the sheer face of the Barranco Wall looming overhead, promising adventure for the morning ahead.

Today, you'll descend into the Ngorongoro Crater—often called Africa's Garden of Eden—for a full-day game drive through one of the most wildlife-rich landscapes on earth. The crater floor unfolds like a living diorama: lions dozing on the grasslands, rhinos grazing undisturbed near the marshes, elephants ambling across the plains, and hippos surfacing in the shimmering lakes. Every turn reveals another breathtaking scene, making this a fitting finale to your safari adventures before returning to the comfort of Country Lodge.
Day 14: Lake Manyara to Arusha
One last adventure awaits before your journey concludes.
